Photo Gallery Instructions

We have created a free Picasa account to be used for sharing photos among club members. To access the account:

Go to http://picasaweb.google.com, and log in with:

     Userid: PrescottHiking
     Password: (same password as used to access the PHC Members information).

Viewing Albums

You can view albums via links to the albums from Photo Gallery page on http://www.prescotthikingclub.com/Photos.htm.

You can alternatively view albums by logging into Picasaweb as shown above.

Creating Albums

The easiest way to create an album and upload photos is by downloading the free Picasa program to your computer and uploading the photos using it.

To download Picasa, go here:

  http://picasa.google.com/

Next install Picasa as an application on your computer.

After it installed, to upload photos:

Use the Upload button in Picasa to share your photos online in Picasa Web Albums.

To upload your photos to a new or existing web album, follow these steps:

  1. Select the photos you'd like to upload.
  2. Once you've selected all of your photos, click the Upload button in the Photo Tray.
  3. Sign in to the PrescottHiking Account for Picasa Web Albums.
  4. Choose your upload settings.
  5. Select an existing online albums or click the New button to create a new one.
  6. Click the areas under 'Album Title' and 'Description' to edit those fields.
  7. Choose your preferred upload size. This should be the default of 1600 pixels, or even better, original size ( if you have a high speed connection).
  8. Choose the visibility level for your album. This should be Public.
  9. Click the Upload button.

 The Upload Manager will appear and show you the status of the upload.

When the upload is complete, click the View Online button in the Upload Manager to go directly to the web album in your browser.

Alternatively, you can use the Upload button on the web site http://picasaweb.google.com after you have logged into the PrescottHiking account. This method is somewhat limiting, because you can upload only five photos at a time.

Please name any albums you create with the format:

     YYYY_MM Location - Photographer

Example:

     2009_06 Woodchute - Perry

Also, when you create a new album, please send an email to prescotthikingclub@gmail.com with the album name so it can be added to the links on the Photo Gallery page on prescotthikingclub.com.
